Jamie Munro completes the 75 mile Skye Trail Ultra
Well done Jamie for completing this 75 mile ultra which traverses some of the most stunning and challenging terrain the UK has to offer.
Despite tricky conditions and stomach upset, Jamie battled hard to complete the route in 24hrs 50 mins. Jamie is a frequent competitor on track and trail with both Wigan Harriers and Newburgh Nomads.

Harrock Hill race - course maintenance
With agreement of the local landowner we've been out on the Harrock Hill course repairing the fence and broken stile on the south side of the quarry. This should reduce queuing at the stile and also make the fence safer for our runners.
The Yorkshire BIG day out
Well done to Katherine Sutton on gaining a personal best time in the tough Fellsman competition with 60+ miles of day and night running over open Yorkshire moorland on 26 April 2025.
On the same day, new member Stephen Wilkes also gained a personal best in Yorkshire Three Peaks race - a premier event in the national running calendar.
Well done to both on a great day out in neighbouring races on the same day, they're both tough events.
Autumn-Winter round-up 2024-25
The winter season, as usual, brought many opportunities for training, exploring and racing. Great regulars on the Newburgh calender included:
The OMM. Andy and Matt took a trip up to Glen Artney for the Short Score event, finishing a very respectable 7th Vet pair and 38th out of 100 finishers.
Tour of Pendle. Ten of us enjoyed a fine day on Pendle for this autumn classic. Some strong performances across the range of age categories, particularly from Mike Smith, Peter Fishwick, and from veterans Wally, Tony and Jim who all finished inside 4 hours. Well done Jim for winning 1st V70.��…
New Year's Eve 2024
Newburgh Nomads were joined by friends from Parbold Pink Panthers, Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers and Billinge RC for our traditional last run of the year.
Xmas Handicap 2024
There's confusion over when it starts, where it starts, and even why it's starting at all when outside it's dark, wet and windy. On a Tuesday close to Christmas, Newburgh Nomads host a little run for our friends with the aim of everyone finishing at about the same time.This is the Newburgh Christmas Handicap!Thanks to everyone who turned up on 17 December for the craziness, once again it was a blast!Prizes were awarded for dubious reasons.

Daryl's Jungfrau Marathon
Huge congratulations to Daryl Mullen of Newburgh Nomads, who along with daughter Luci, completed the tough Jungfrau Marathon on 07 September 2024. It's a marathon with a difference - 2,000 meters of climbing included! On a stunning Alpine day, Daryl and Luci ran from Interlaken to Eigergletscher in view of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch. An amazing setting and great conditions for such a challenge. Well done Daryl and Luci!
