Peter Fishwick joins the Bob Graham 24hr club

On 22-23 August 2025 Peter Fishwick completed his Bob Graham round in 21:53 hrs.  This was a truly remarkable effort by Peter since having to battle back to fitness after a severely sprained ankle in February kept him out of running for 8 weeks.

Undertaking many arduous hill days, sometimes twice or three times a week, Peter ran the Old County Tops race in May and completed both the Abraham's Tea Round and The Charnley Way in quick succession during the summer, both in very respectable times.

Peter's tenacity and focus were evident on the day of his round attempt too.  Gaining 20 minutes on leg 1, and holding onto that advantage through leg 2.  Despite losing 10 minutes on leg 3 due to stomach cramps and missing out on the faster grassy running, Peter romped across the rocky section from Bowfell to Scafell to gain back lost time and more.  On a 23 hour schedule, he was 25 minutes up when reaching Brackenclose. Peter's strategy of minimising breaks and taking on lots of fluids served him well.  Leg 4 saw another large chunk of time taken off schedule, enough to bring a few smiles for both Peter and his supporters on Leg 5 knowing that 22 hours was possible and that his round was in the bag.

Incredible roadside support was provided solely by Peter's wife Natasha, who fed everyone and ferried them all back and forth.  Bravo!

Peter, who becomes the 17th Newburgh Nomad to join the BGR 24 hour club, was expertly supported on the fells and road by club members from Newburgh Nomads and friends: Stephen Wilkes, Ollie Hulbert, Jamie Munro, Daryl Mullen, Mike Hitchmough, Jordan Van Flute, Guy Illingworth, Chris Usher, Katherine Sutton, Michael Smith, David Riding, Sam Carr, Peter McNamee and Kelly Marie Staunton.
